The JSON uses the same layout as Aseprite's, so tools that read Aseprite sprite sheets can read it. The .tres file is ready-made animations for Godot's AnimatedSprite2D, one per tag.

Pixel Sprite Studio — help

Drawing

Left click draws with the top colour, right click with the second colour. Alt + click picks a colour. Hold Space and drag (or drag with the middle button) to move around; the mouse wheel zooms. Turn on mirror to draw both sides of a character at once.

When a selection is made, drawing stays inside it. Move a selection with the Move tool; press Enter to put it down or Esc to cancel.

Animation

+ Frame copies the current frame so you only change what moves. Turn on onion skin to see the frame before (red) and after (blue). Click a frame, then Shift + click another to choose several, and press 🏷 Tag to name them, like walk_down. The preview plays the tag you're working in.

Putting your sprite into Godot

  1. Export → All three in a zip (scale 1×). Unzip it into the folder you typed (for example res://sprites) inside your Godot project.
  2. Keep pixels sharp: Project → Project Settings → Rendering → Textures → Default Texture Filter → Nearest (or set the node's Texture Filter to Nearest).
  3. Add an AnimatedSprite2D node and drag the .tres file onto its Sprite Frames. Every tag is an animation, ready to play, like walk_down.
  4. Or build it by hand: Sprite Frames → Add frames from sprite sheet and set the columns and rows to match the sheet.

Tilesets: export the Tileset PNG, then in Godot add it to a TileSet with the same tile size.
